ruck sack
I'm loving this versatile and unisex canvas farm ruck sack by Makr. Looks like it would be a great bag to throw all of mine and baby's stuff in for our daily jaunts. But what stuck with me most about this company is that everything is designed and crafted locally and only made in small quantities. For $160 it beats any baby bag in price and not to mention style.

miller goodman
A friend recently introduced me to ShapeMaker rubberwood blocks by Miller Goodman. The blocks are colorful, hand printed and environmentally friendly. They're crafted from rubber wood and the twenty-five pieces make tons of different faces. An exciting and imaginative gift!

postcards from the edge
My dear friend Gina always puts so much thought into giving gifts and comes up with the most amazing finds. Besides giving little mama many many special things, she recently used this postcard instead of a greeting card, which I loved. I always feel guilty throwing cards away, but with this postcard I can put it in a cute little frame + hang on baby's wall.
Check out designs by the claudettes and even more postcards at 1973.

wee see
I am really excited to have the Wee See Collection of DVD's on Sonny. I have had a hard time finding black + white playthings/learning tools for Leni. Apparently newborns do not see color until about 3 months, so when I came across these DVD's via Bloesem Kids, I knew I had to make them available at Sonny.

little bird
Leni at 8 weeks old, taken with my new fuji instax camera (trying to fill the polaroid hole in my heart). She's wearing the everyone dreams of peace tee by smiling planet. Super soft and easy to get on an active baby, very important in my world. Everything sold in the Sonny e-boutique is done with baby + mama's needs in mind!
sand gone
Clever mom and old friend Tiffany Smith is the brains behind Sand Gone. This dry body powder is non- toxic, non-talc and when applied to sandy parts of the body, removes the sand and leaves your skin soft, smooth and smelling great! With summer and the beach weather quickly approaching, pick up a an 8oz container at Sonny Boutique.

honey in the rough
One of my favorite places to shop in NYC is Honey in the Rough. Owner Ashley Hanosh not only has a keen eye for finding remarkable pieces (i scored my very lovely wedding dress here), but also has a warm + friendly spirit which makes shopping at the store enjoyable and non-intimidating. Everything I have ever tried on there I want in my closet. Honey in the Rough recently launched their online shop + with new baby slightly cramping my shopping style, this news made me smile.
smiling planet
I am in love with products from Smiling Planet, they have 100% recycled, earth friendly + BPA free dinnerware for kids. I've been carrying their plates + placemats on Sonny for some time but most recently they added bowls to the mix. For $14 each they make a really great gift.
I also couldn't pass up these too cute "everyone dreams of peace" tees. They are made in California from 100% organic cotton + custom dyed and printed with water based ink, $28.
Find them at Sonny Boutique.

label me
I am really not a label type of person, I'd much rather get something from an indie boutique or buy a really special vintage piece. But I couldn't pass up this Stella McCartney for Gap crochet top and bloomers set for Leni, it was just too sweet!

happy birthday
I've been quite absent lately but with good reason. A month ago today little miss Leni was born. It's been absolutely amazing but with a lack of sleep and her keeping me very busy it's been tricky to juggle work and baby. I'm slowly making my way back so stay tuned for more posts, more often!

52 week of polaroid
I was distraught when Polaroid quit making instant film. Luckily I can get my fix from a few things- like my holga, fuji instax instant camera, polarize app on my iphone and these lovely snaps by Rubyellen on one of my favorite blogs 52 weeks of polaroid.

girl in the game
Girl in the game will be a weekly post about someone who I find particularly intriguing & who is following their dream in some way. I hope you will be inspired by the beautiful & brilliant women featured here....
My first girl in the game post is about my great grand-mother, Mabel. Although she is no longer alive, her story & the pictures she left behind were absolutely moving!
I recently discovered that my great-grandmother was a very cool woman. She skillfully played the accordion, piano & best of all rode a Harley Motorcycle back in 1922 (carting my poppy in the sidecar, as you can see by the picture!) She was an independent woman, a young - single mother for some time & made a living by working at an accounting firm in NYC. She was a spunky spirit, always on the go & was an uncommon beauty. A true inspiration!

rain or shine
The design your own t-shirt kit by Poloppo is the perfect indoor creative activity on crappy days like today. The T-me kit contains 10 mini-markers, square paper, a catalog of American Apparel t-shirts and a pre-paid return envelope so kids can send in their artwork and get it printed on a t-shirt of their choice - for themselves, friends, and even ma' and pop. In 10 days, they'll receive their very own wearable art.
